PROJECT TIMELINE

PHASE 2

April 2018 – February 2019

Repair, mold & asbestos abatement, and careful index each aspect of the home in an historic perspective – completing an Historic Structures Report. (In May 2018 the home flooded with a fire sprinkler system failure in the home, causing mold, and wet rot. Repair and abatement are required to carefully save the damaged wall and/or structures.)

October 2018

Exploring and submitting funding requests to national foundations (National Parks Service – African American Civil Rights Grant, National Trust for Historic Preservation – African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund). We hope to hear if we are granted in early 2019.

December 2019

Open “back house” as receiving area for visitors, project steering committee members and information center while the entire project proceeds. Periodic receptions and events will be coordinated on the property as the museum constructions moves forward.
